Well Oppo, I did it. I bought a tiny manual 4x4 to hoon in the woods and various dirt roads in rural Indiana.
1993 Geo Tracker 4x4 5 speed with the 1.6L. It has 176K miles on it but as far as I can tell only a leaky valve cover gasket and power steering fluid reservoir. I have driven it ~100mi already and it is freaking amazing (Except for the bra. I always prefer everything bra-less). The aftermarket hard top is actually pretty great but awkward to take on and off (I will probably only be using it in the winter). The steering is a little loose, probably due to the fact the 33" tires have been adding a little extra moment than the stock tires would have. It has a body lift to fir the meats so the suspension geometry remains intact.
I have replacement parts ordered to fix the leaks and super excited to start wrenching on it this weekend.
Future plans are longer travel suspension system, roll cage and maybe a custom turbo system of my design and/or engine swap.
TLDR: I am freaking excited to have a cheap fun running project I can drive anywhere.

i dig the hood lamps, too. drove my uncles around galveston. it was so much fun i forgot about the rainbow stickers plastered all over it. (not being an ass, he's one of those flamboyant gays that rainbow stickered everything.)

Honestly, not sure how I feel about the hood lamps yet. I am going to keep them on for now but in the future they may come off once I get a light bar or two but then again they may really grow on me and I keep them. Also, these things are so great no color and/or sticker combo would keep me from rocking the Geo.

Cool project, gotta love trackers/samurais. I would think twice about putting a bunch of money into it though, because your gonna be beating the hell out of it in the woods. I don't really take my Jeep off-road anymore because of how jacked up it got. The scratches were the worst — branches left scratch marks running all the way down both sides, as if a whole gang of teenagers had simultaneously keyed it. If I had more money in the truck, it would have pained me that much more.

*looks at picture* thinks "hey, that looks like indiana..." *reads article* proceeds to think "Wow...Indiana is so boring" I like the color, very Tonka truck-ish.

I have found that watching it go by fast out of a window makes it slightly more interesting.

Agreed. I am going to keep it under $5k total because yes, I will absolutely scratch/break a bunch of stuff. Luckily for me they made a crap load of these trackers and samurais and someone is always parting them out so if I need something, I should be able to make a deal on what I need off craigslist. Sexual assault may or may not be included in the transaction.
